Saved It Up for this Dance

May 17th, 2009

1 year ago today, I married the most awesome woman I know.

I have heard before that the first year is one of, if not the, hardest.  If that is true, we have a lot of great years to look foward to.  I am constantly shocked at how lucky I am to have her in my life.

I love you, Katie.

Wish enough, wise man’ll tell you a lie
Window broke, torn up screens
Who’d have thought that you’d dream
Of a single tragic scene

I just wanna sing a song with you
I just want to take it off of you

Cause Blue Eyes
You are all that I need
Cause Blue Eyes
You’re the sweet to my mean

Fess it up, dot on the palm of your hand
I can help you to stand
Saved it up for this dance
Tell me all the things you can

I just wanna sing a song with you
I just wanna be the one that’s true

Cause Blue Eyes
You’re the secret I keep
Cause Blue Eyes

All the lights on and you are alive
But you can’t point the way to your heart
So sublime, when the stars are aligned
But you don’t know
You don’t know the greatness you are

Cause Blue Eyes
You are destiny’s scene
Cause Blue Eyes
I just wanna be the one

I just wanna sing a song with you
I just wanna get it on with you

Cause Blue Eyes
You’re the secret I keep
Cause Blue Eyes
I just wanna sing a song with you…

We made The Knot! And the Chinese Knot! Wait… What?

From the moment I proposed to Katie, she had one goal in mind.  No, not a lifetime of marital bliss, but instead to make it onto The Knot.

Luckily, she went out and hired an awesome photographer (yes that is us featured in her blog banner), while also crafting an all-around beautiful and unique wedding.  All of this, I might add, was absolutely no-thanks to the man in the tan-suit.We were also blessed with a picture-perfect day despite threats of scattered thunderstorms and a flooding river across the street.  All of this hard work and good luck was well worth it, as a few months following our big-day, we received a phone call telling us that we would soon be a Real Wedding as featured on TheKnot.com!

We, or should I say, Katie, quickly answered the subsequent interview questionnaire and off it went.  Then, came nothing.  We hadn’t heard a thing until one day, Katie was doing a bit of self-googling (admit it, you’ve done it, we all have) and stumbled up our feature! And here it is: The Knot – Real Weddings!

Then, when I went to find it, I stumbled upon the mysterious: The Knot- Real Chinese Weddings!    Neither Katie nor I are the least bit Chinese to the best of our knowledge.  The blond hair and blue eyes are our biggest hint that we are probably correct in this assessment.  The only thing I can think of is that one of our flower girls, my now 4 year old cousin, is 1/2 Chinese.  She is the featured flowered girl, but as shot from behind, I don’t really believe that this would be the reason.

But hey, if we help a Chinese couple or two in the planning of their wedding, then I’m glad we could help.  It was such an awesome day and I really want to thank Katie for putting together such an amazing wedding and all our friends and family who made it out and made the day even more fun and memorable.

Also I’d be terribly mistaken to not thank, Michelle of Under Grace Photography and Becca of Benton Park Photography Co.  These two were absolutely were awesome.  I really can’t imagine being any happier with our pictures than we are with the shots they took. Amazing, perfect.  If you are looking for a photographer  or two near St. Louis, don’t bother looking elsewhere.

Hard to believe this all happened 8 months ago.
